The first phase of Andy’s 2026 Yamaha MT-09SP Super Hooligan MotoAmerica race bike build. After a couple short days at the shop tearing a bike down to the frame and rebuilding it into a race bike with the team, he takes it to Podium Club in Arizona for the first test on the BPR Racing built machine. After pulling out of Daytona and going into Barber with more questions than answers, the goal for the OrangeCat Racing Lightfighter team was simple: finish races and keep learning. Somehow, we ended up standing on the podium! This weekend at Barber Motorsports Park was a huge milestone for the Lightfighter project and one I’ll never forget — my first podium finish on the all-electric Lightfighter V3-RH in MotoAmerica Super Hooligan competition. The progress this team has made in such a short amount of time is honestly incredible. Every session we’re learning more about the bike, the battery, and what it takes to compete against gas-powered motorcycles at this level. Huge thanks to everyone at OrangeCat Racing for the endless hours and belief in this project. After our first ever double top 5 finish, we headed to Laguna Seca with momentum and confidence. Everything was coming together, and we were ready to keep building. Instead, the weekend ended with a thermal event no racer ever wants to experience. Racing is full of incredible highs and brutal lows. This is one we'll never forget. I also want to take a moment to thank everyone at Lightfighter and Orange Cat Racing. What we've accomplished together is only possible because of the countless hours, late nights, and relentless effort this team puts in behind the scenes. The results we've had this year are a direct reflection of that hard work, and while it's heartbreaking to lose the bike, I'm incredibly grateful to be surrounded by people who never stop pushing forward.
